If you enjoy photography and Vietnamese food, then this half-day Photography and Food tour to Sydney’s Saigon suburb - Cabramatta - is a must and lots of fun. Whether you are a compact camera or DSLR photographer there is plenty of great photography material to practice your photographic skills, both outdoors on the colourful main shopping streets and also the indoor vibrant markets, arcades and shops selling an array of exotic flowers, vegetables, fish, meat and sweets. The local, predominantly Vietnamese residents, including women in traditional cone-shaped bamboo hats busily trade and buy their fresh produce as they would in Vietnam or other Asian countries. It is a hive of activity and at times feels like downtown Saigon!
On every main street there are numerous Vietnamese and Asian restaurants, Pho cafe’s, fragrant street food stalls and shops. During our walk around the centre of this Asian melting pot of culture and food we will sample and take photos of the delicious street food snacks - favourites being pandan waffles and freshly-warm custard cakes, before sitting down to lunch in one of the Vietnamese restaurants. Beautifully presented delicious Vietnamese delicacies, fresh herbs, steaming bowls of pho soup, chopsticks, sauces and spices allow for more picture taking before eating.
During the three and half hours of the tour, you will have the opportunity to make the most of your camera and its functions (off Auto-mode) by understanding your camera's key buttons, exposure control, depth of field, aperture and shutter speed, design & composition, lighting, colour and texture, leading lines, white balance, ISO settings in both daylight and indoor lighting.
Cabramatta today is very different from the ‘bad old days’ this suburb once was 15 years ago. It is now a thriving and successful mulitcultural community with 120 nationalities - hard to believe you are only 30km from Sydney’s CBD. A great way to spend a few hours with you camera and no need to bring your passport!
